Two ways to run this on your own terms
Most people should use the standard setup: one click, a private server in the cloud, and Claude doing the thinking. That is the version we recommend and the version we can support end to end. These two options are for people who want to own more of it — the hardware, the model, or both.
Stay with the standard setup if…
- You want it to work without you thinking about it.
- You would rather not own a machine that has to stay switched on.
- You want us to be able to fix things when they break. On the standard setup, we can see the whole picture.
Read on if…
- You already have a spare computer, or a Mac that can run AI models.
- You are comfortable checking an AI's work until you know how it behaves.
- You would rather your day-to-day conversations never left your house at all.
One of these is a decision you make on day one and one isn't. Where your assistant runs is chosen when you create it; which AI model it uses is a setting you can change whenever you like.
The two options
They are independent. You can take one, the other, or both.
Run the AI on your own Mac
Your assistant asks a model running on your Mac instead of Claude in the cloud.
What you gain
- •Day-to-day replies cost nothing per message.
- •Those conversations never leave your machine.
What you take on
- •You pick the model, so its quality is yours to judge.
- •If the Mac sleeps, your assistant stops answering.
Run it on a computer you own
Your assistant lives on a Raspberry Pi, spare Linux box, Windows PC, or Mac in your home.
What you gain
- •No cloud server bill.
- •The machine holding your data is one you can physically unplug.
What you take on
- •It has to stay powered on and online.
- •If the hardware fails, replacing it is yours to do.
What these options don't change
They change where your assistant runs. They don't change what we promise everybody — all five of these are already true on the standard setup.
Your accounts, your keys
You sign up with the AI provider yourself and you hold the key. We never bill your usage, on any setup.
We hold no keys to your machine
Your assistant reaches out to us. We have no way to reach in — standard cloud server included.
The server is yours
On the standard setup it's a server in your own cloud account, not ours. Owning the hardware is a difference of degree, not of kind.

These options are not a different plan or an upsell. The subscription is identical.
